Chingford War Memorial

This site is dedicated to the men commemorated on the Chingford War Memorial

back

This week we visited various British Military Cemeteries throughout France & Belgium.

We had a list of a number of graves/memorials that we wanted to photograph and whilst at TyneCot British Military Cemetery (The largest British military cemetery in the world with almost 35,000 casualties) we noticed that one of the men commemorated on the Chingford War Memorial has been ommitted from the Tyne Cot Memorial.

Private 43314 Flucker, John Wilson is listed in the cemetery registers as being listed on panels 35-37 (Lincolnshire Regiment Panels) and panels 162-162A ( The addendum panels) However his name is missing.

We reported this error to the Common Wealth War Graves Commission in Ieper on 9/4/2008, they are now investigating the ommission and we will update you via the News pages on this site as soon as we hear from them.
Of the 18 graves/memorials that we did find only 1 has an actual grave, the others are remembered of the memorial panels, you can view them below.
